2008 History Tour. Book now!

Category: General

Tim Burnard from Friends of the Glenelg River Inc is keen to let people know that they are fast running out of time to book for the next history tour. This time it’s a free bus tour looking at the area just north of Casterton.

The bus will be making several stops to talk about some of our local history including stories of murder, the settlement of Dunrobin and the ‘Millionaires Mine’. A major highlight will be a visit to the historic Dunrobin Station. The free bakery lunch will be served at the beautiful Angling club grounds before continuing on with the tour

As usual, the group will be led by Graeme Baugh, no doubt with plenty of input from long term Castertonians joining the tour. Graeme says that this trip will involve a couple of short walks and will also include stories about some of our local indigenous hero’s as well as some recently uncovered information about a proposed rail line that was to head north of Casterton.

The tour will start at 9.15 AM on Sunday 12th October and should return by 3.30 in the afternoon. Pick up and drop off will be from Rotary Park (next to Casterton Bridge). For catering purposes, we ask anyone interested in coming, to call Tim Burnard (55812205) or drop in to Murrells Shoes and speak to Brian before Friday 3rd Oct to confirm their place (there are only about 15 seats left so hurry!).
